Monumento Natural desde 2000 y Zona Arqueológica declarada Bien de Interés Cultural en 1991: hay cientos de cuevas de poblamiento aborigen con yacimientos intactos (Cuevas Muchas, Risco del Canario) que no se pueden alterar. Alberga rapaces protegidas.
