- Beach break de arena, muy extenso y de poca profundidad, con olas largas y consistentes descritas como ideales para principiantes. Continúa hacia El Puntal, la lengua de arena que cierra la bahía de Santander. Con viento térmico también funciona para kite y windsurf.

- Restrictions and regulations
- Del 15 de junio al 15 de septiembre existe una zona de varada de kitesurf de 300 m situada a 1 km al oeste del parking de Somo; todos los kiters están obligados a izar y arriar la cometa dentro de esa zona. Fuera de esas fechas la navegación se abre al resto de la playa. La Ordenanza de Playa del Ayuntamiento de Ribamontán al Mar obliga a disponer de licencia federativa o seguro deportivo que cubra el kitesurf. Está prohibido navegar en el canal balizado con boyas rojas y verdes paralelo a Pedreña, por donde pasan los ferries Somo/Pedreña–Santander.
