Sierras apalachenses y dehesas del sur del área: el Geoparque Mundial UNESCO Villuercas-Ibores-Jara (2.500 km², 19 municipios, 52 geositios), el Parque Nacional de Monfragüe (17.852 ha, Reserva de la Biosfera desde 2003) y el Parque Nacional de Cabañeros en los Montes de Toledo (más de 40.000 ha).

Geoparque Mundial de la UNESCO con 52 geositios; la Cueva de Castañar de Ibor es Monumento Natural con visita muy limitada por conservación, aunque no se ha podido verificar el régimen exacto de cupos. Incluye el Monasterio de Guadalupe (Patrimonio Mundial desde 1993).

Restrictions and regulations
Parque Nacional desde 1995 (Parque Natural en 1988), más de 40.000 ha entre Ciudad Real y Toledo. El acceso a la raña y a buena parte de la finca es por rutas guiadas con sistema de reserva online gestionado por el parque; no se ha verificado el detalle de cupos ni el listado de empresas autorizadas. Refugio de grandes rapaces y cigüeña negra.

Restrictions and regulations
Parque Nacional desde 2007 (17.852 ha, siete municipios), ZEPA desde 1988 y Reserva de la Biosfera reconocida por la UNESCO en julio de 2003, con catorce municipios en su ámbito. NO se ha podido confirmar en fuente oficial la existencia de una prohibición expresa de escalada: la fuente consultada no lo detalla y el propio texto recomienda contactar con la administración del parque. Tratar como escalada no practicable / pendiente de verificación, nunca como permitida. Consta que el gobierno regional autorizó la caza en el parque a partir de 2023.
