Parque Natural de Somiedo y Reserva de la Biosfera; el concejo gestiona el acceso y el aparcamiento en la zona de los lagos. Hábitat de entre el 40 % y el 50 % de la población de oso pardo cantábrico de toda la cordillera, con las limitaciones de uso público que eso implica.
