Cordón de sierras semiáridas del sureste: Sierra de Baza (53.649 ha, Calar de Santa Bárbara 2.269 m), Sierra de María-Los Vélez (22.562 ha, 2.045 m) y los Filabres. Montaña media de clima continental seco, con nieve invernal y muy poca presión turística.
