What Sierra Nevada is
La estación de esquí más meridional de Europa y la de mayor cota de España (3.300 m), sobre el macizo de Sierra Nevada, a 32 km de Granada. Es el mayor y más disputado mercado de instructores de nieve de España fuera del Pirineo, y en verano el macizo es el principal destino de alta montaña del sur peninsular (Mulhacén, Veleta, Integral de los Tresmiles).

jul–sep para la ascensión estival sin nieve; en las aproximaciones desde los pueblos de la Alpujarra el desnivel supera los 2.000 m. En invierno es ascensión de nieve con temperaturas registradas por debajo de -20 °C.
Restrictions and regulations
Dentro del Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada. El acceso rodado en altura está limitado: en la vertiente de Capileira funciona un microbús estacional del parque que deja a los senderistas cerca de los 2.600 m (habitualmente de mayo a octubre, según meteorología).

jun–oct para la travesía estival; el resto del año es terreno de nieve. La carretera de altura solo se usa con transporte autorizado en la ventana estival.
Restrictions and regulations
Cuarta cumbre de España (3.398 m). Desde 1999 el acceso de vehículos por encima de los 2.500 m requiere autorización especial; existe un servicio de transporte guiado que opera aproximadamente de junio a octubre.

Situado a 2.500 m dentro del Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada. Gestionado por la Federación Andaluza de Montañismo. Reserva previa recomendable en temporada.
