Sierra del sureste de Lugo (Formigueiros 1.643 m, Pía Paxaro 1.610 m) con el mejor bosque atlántico de interior de Galicia, la Devesa da Rogueira, y Geoparque Mundial UNESCO Montañas do Courel. Al sur, la Enciña da Lastra aporta el único karst calizo relevante de Galicia.

Restrictions and regulations
Zona de Especial Conservación Ancares-Courel (Red Natura 2000). Se han descrito problemas de saturación de aparcamiento en temporada alta; no he podido verificar si existe cupo o reserva obligatoria vigente.

Restrictions and regulations
Parque Natural desde 2002 (3.185 ha). Karst con cuevas y cañones de más de 200 m. Único punto regular de nidificación del alimoche en Galicia y presencia de rapaces rupícolas y quirópteros: es previsible que existan limitaciones estacionales en paredes y cuevas, pero NO he podido verificar la orden concreta ni las fechas.
