La capital del surf de Lanzarote: unos 3 km de arena bajo el risco de Famara, con la mayor concentración de escuelas de la isla, más arrecifes de nivel a pocos minutos (San Juan). El risco convierte la zona también en escenario de actividades de montaña y costa.

todo el año; iniciación mejor en días pequeños y por la mañana
What it's like
Beach break de arena de unos 3 km bajo acantilados de ~600 m, con picos consistentes y largas izquierdas en el extremo norte. Los principiantes se sitúan en la zona centro-sur, donde el fondo es blando y la ola rompe progresivamente; ahí operan casi todas las escuelas. CLAVE: hay que surfear temprano, antes de las 10 h, cuando el alisio del NE es flojo/offshore; a media tarde el alisio arrecia y la superficie se degrada. En días de swell grande hay corrientes y deja de ser playa de iniciación.

Base del acantilado de Famara, dentro del Parque Natural del Archipiélago Chinijo. Costa rocosa expuesta al oleaje del norte: solo practicable con mar plano y guía local.
Restrictions and regulations
Parque Natural del Archipiélago Chinijo y Reserva Marina de La Graciosa e islotes del norte de Lanzarote (Orden de 19 de mayo de 1995). Las actividades subacuáticas requieren solicitud a la Viceconsejería de Pesca del Gobierno de Canarias con antelación (Orden de 17 de marzo de 1999).

Reef break de izquierdas de calidad a 5 minutos de Famara. Take-off rápido y paredes casi verticales, sobre arrecife. No apto para iniciación.
