What it's like
Gran anfiteatro de deslizamiento en la vertiente norte de la isla, con costa de lava, charcos y piscinas naturales. Al estar orientado al norte queda expuesto al oleaje dominante: practicable solo con mar plano. La oferta organizada de buceo de la isla está concentrada en La Restinga, no aquí.

What it's like
Reserva marina de 1.180 ha (750 ha de reserva integral) en el sector suroccidental de El Hierro, creada por orden ministerial de 1996. Fondos rocosos muy escarpados con cuevas y túneles y cobertura algal hasta ~70 m. Al estar al abrigo de los alisios permite actividad prácticamente sin interrupciones meteorológicas. Hay 12 zonas de inmersión balizadas con boyas; el fondeo está prohibido.
Restrictions and regulations
El buceo autónomo requiere AUTORIZACIÓN y está regulado por la Orden APA/89/2005, que fija un límite máximo anual de 2.300 buceadores. Máximo 12 buceadores (guías incluidos) por boya. No se pueden portar instrumentos aptos para pescar o extraer especies. Se exige titulación mínima tipo Open Water para acceder a las zonas oficiales de inmersión; sin ella solo cursos o bautismos fuera de las zonas protegidas. La pesca recreativa solo desde costa y fuera de la reserva integral y zonas restringidas.
