    Playa muy constante durante todo el año, con fondos de arena y roca y variedad de olas apta tanto para iniciación como para nivel avanzado. Telón de fondo del islote de San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.

    Arenal con dunas al pie del cabo Ogoño, descrito como el arenal más bello del País Vasco. Fondo de arena, olas cortas e intensas con izquierdas y derechas; catalogada como playa de iniciación aunque con días de más fuerza.

    Dentro de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Urdaibai; aparcamiento limitado y saturado en verano.

    What it's like

    Playa interior del estuario de Urdaibai, frente a Mundaka; queda muy abrigada y con mareas amplias que dejan grandes bancos de arena. La regeneración de la barra de Laida ha sido objeto de debate por su efecto sobre la ola de Mundaka.

    Restrictions and regulations

    Dentro de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Urdaibai (Ley 5/1989 y Decreto 139/2016). Existe servicio de barcos-lanzadera desde Mundaka y Sukarrieta a Laida y Laga en verano; conviene evitar sus rutas.

    sep–dic (pico); mejor consistencia en meses de invierno

    What it's like

    Izquierda de clase mundial que nace en la barra de arena de la desembocadura del Oka y recorre hasta unos 400 m con alturas de hasta 4-5 m. Rompe con vientos de componente sur-suroeste. Un estudio de AZTI-Tecnalia concluyó que la ola es idónea para nivel avanzado: es rápida y potente y el fondo se vuelve traicionero con marea baja. NO ES SPOT DE INICIACIÓN. Ha albergado nueve pruebas del circuito mundial (WSL).

    Restrictions and regulations

    Está dentro de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Urdaibai, regulada por la Ley 5/1989 del Parlamento Vasco (única reserva de la biosfera con ley propia) y por el Decreto 139/2016 que aprueba su Plan Rector de Uso y Gestión. La ría incluye tres Zonas Especiales de Conservación y es ZEPA. Buena parte de los usos náuticos recreativos (fondeos, amarres, instalaciones náuticas) están prohibidos por la legislación vigente. Localismo histórico muy marcado.

    What it's like

    Estuario del Oka, agua plana con corriente de marea. Se comercializan descensos en paddle surf desde el muelle de Murueta con final en la playa de Mundaka, aprovechando la bajante.

    Restrictions and regulations

    Reserva de la Biosfera de Urdaibai: Ley 5/1989 y Decreto 139/2016 (PRUG); ZEC de la red fluvial del Oka y de zonas litorales y marismas, y ZEPA por su papel en la ruta migratoria de aves. Las actividades comerciales deben ajustarse a esa normativa y muchos usos náuticos están prohibidos.
