Rock climbing lessons with qualified technicians
Sport climbing, bouldering and trad are not three different sports: they are three disciplines of the same one, and the technician who teaches you one usually handles all three. A typical session lasts three to four hours at a crag. Technical gear — harness, helmet, ropes, loan climbing shoes — is usually provided.

What you will learn
Your instructor adapts the content to your starting point, but this is the usual progression.
Beginner
Knots, tying in, the safety chain and belaying on top rope. Footwork, using your feet and saving your arms on beginner routes.
Intermediate
Leading, clipping, managing falls and dynamic belaying. Lowering off and building an anchor at a sport crag.
Advanced
Multi-pitch and trad climbing: placing removable protection, rope manoeuvres, linked abseils and basic self-rescue.
What is included and what you bring
Included in the lesson
- Harness, helmet, rope and quickdraws
- Loan climbing shoes if you do not have your own
- Choice of crag and sector based on level and weather
- The technician’s liability insurance
What you bring
- Comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement
- Approach shoes
- Water and something to eat
- Your own climbing shoes if you already climb
Trad or multi-pitch outings take a full day. Each technician states the discipline and the maximum ratio of students per rope.
How much it costs
No prices published yet
The price shown here will be the real range of the offer published by verified instructors. Until there is offer, we show no figure at all.
Best time of year
Rock climbs best in cool temperatures: spring and autumn are the main season. In summer you look for shade and altitude, and in winter the sunny south and east coast crags work well.

Safety and qualifications
In climbing, safety is not an opening talk: it is the technique taught from minute one. A checked knot, a cross-check before every route and an attentive belayer are part of the lesson content, not a formality. The technician inspects the gear before setting off, picks the sector based on rock and weather, and never takes more students per rope than they can supervise.
Required qualification
- Climbing Sports Technician (Spanish RD 702/2019) or Higher Climbing Sports Technician (RD 701/2019), depending on the discipline and terrain.
- First aid and crag self-rescue training.
- Liability insurance explicitly covering rock climbing.
We verify qualifications sport by sport: an instructor can be published for one sport and still under review for another. We also check that their liability insurance covers that specific activity.
