Wingfoil lessons with certified instructors
Wingfoiling is the fastest-growing discipline between 2024 and 2026, and yet few schools teach it properly. It is learned in two clearly separate phases: first handling the wing, then the foil. It is usually taught by the same instructors who teach kiting and windsurfing.
- Typical duration
- 2 h per session
- Gear
- Wing and foil board from the instructor
- Season
- April – October
What you will learn
Your instructor adapts the content to your starting point, but this is the usual progression.
Beginner
Handling the wing on land and in the water on a big board, without the foil. Points of sail, power control and recovering after a fall.
Intermediate
First flights on the foil: take-off, height control and touching down without being thrown off. Riding on both tacks.
Advanced
Sustained flight, transitions without touching down, efficient upwind riding and first waves on the foil.
What is included and what you bring
Included in the lesson
- A wing sized for the day’s wind
- Beginner board and foil
- Helmet, impact vest and wetsuit
- The instructor’s liability insurance
What you bring
- Swimsuit

The wing phase takes one or two sessions; the foil phase takes several more. Each instructor details the plan on their profile.
How much it costs
No prices published yet
The price shown here will be the real range of the offer published by verified instructors. Until there is offer, we show no figure at all.
Best time of year
The season matches the other wind sports: April to October, with Tarifa and the Canaries working almost all year. Wingfoiling needs less wind than kiting, so it makes use of days that kiters write off.

Safety and qualifications
The foil is a rigid wing with sharp edges under the water: the specific risk in wingfoiling is cutting yourself when you fall onto it. That is why helmet and impact vest are not optional, and why you learn without the foil first. The instructor keeps the area clear of swimmers and other users.
Required qualification
- A current international wing or kite instructor certification (IKO, VDWS) with a specific foil module.
- Current water rescue and lifesaving training.
- Liability insurance covering foil activity.
We verify qualifications sport by sport: an instructor can be published for one sport and still under review for another. We also check that their liability insurance covers that specific activity.
