Kitesurfing lessons with certified instructors
Kitesurfing depends entirely on wind: no wind means no lesson, and too much wind means the same. Each session lasts two to three hours, and the honest thing is to say it plainly: riding on your own does not come from a single lesson but from a multi-session course the instructor lays out from the start.

What you will learn
Your instructor adapts the content to your starting point, but this is the usual progression.
Beginner
The wind window, rigging and gear checks, safety systems and quick release. Flying the kite on land and body dragging in the water, without a board.
Intermediate
Water start, first runs, power control and board recovery. Riding upwind so you do not lose ground.
Advanced
Transitions, first controlled jumps, choosing kite size for the wind and full autonomy at the spot.

Best time of year
The most consistent wind runs from April to October. In Tarifa the poniente and levante blow all year, and in the Canaries the trade wind is steady in summer; elsewhere the season is shorter and more dependent on the forecast.

Safety and qualifications
A kite is genuinely powerful equipment: most kiting accidents happen on land, during rigging and launching, not while riding. That is why the course starts with the safety systems and the quick release, and you do not enter the water until they are automatic. The instructor chooses the kite size and calls off the session if the wind turns gusty or offshore.
Required qualification
- A current international kite instructor certification: IKO and VDWS are the most widespread in Spain.
- Current water rescue and lifesaving training.
- Liability insurance explicitly covering kitesurf instruction.
We verify qualifications sport by sport: an instructor can be published for one sport and still under review for another. We also check that their liability insurance covers that specific activity.
